What is ISO 14001 Standard?
ISO 14001 is an internationally recognized standard for environmental management systems (EMS). It provides organizations with a framework to effectively manage their environmental responsibilities, minimize their environmental impact, and demonstrate their commitment to sustainable practices. Developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), ISO 14001 sets out the criteria for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and improving an EMS. Commitment and Leadership: Senior management commits to environmental management and sets the tone for the organization’s environmental performance
Initial Review and Gap Analysis: Assess the organization’s current environmental practices and identify gaps between existing practices and ISO 14001 requirements
Environmental Aspects and Impacts Assessment: Identify and assess the potential environmental aspects (activities, products, services) associated with the organization’s operations
Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Identify and understand relevant environmental laws, regulations, and requirements that apply to the organization’s operations
Setting Objectives and Targets: Define environmental objectives and targets that align with the organization’s environmental policy and significant aspects
